Tragic July 4th Crash in Fargo Claims One Life, Injures Three

Fargo, ND – A devastating two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 25th Street South and 13th Avenue South on the night of July 4th, 2024, resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries.

Vehicles Involved:

  1. 2014 Harley Davidson 883 Motorcycle
    • Driver: Jason Short, 47, Fargo, ND – Suffered fatal injuries, no helmet worn
    • Passenger: Lanayah Warren, 19, Arapahoe, WY – Seriously injured, no helmet worn
  2. 2015 Mazda 3
    • Driver: Kellcie Brown, 21, Fargo, ND – Injured, restrained
    • Passenger: Kellie Sharratt, 21, West Fargo, ND – Injured, restrained

Crash Narrative: Jason Short was riding his 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on 13th Avenue when he entered the intersection at 25th Street South against a red light. The motorcycle collided with a 2015 Mazda 3, driven by Kellcie Brown, who was traveling southbound on 25th Street South with a green light.

The impact threw both Short and his passenger, Lanayah Warren, from the motorcycle. Unfortunately, Short was pronounced dead at the scene, while Warren sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. Neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Both occupants of the Mazda, Brown and Sharratt, were also injured and taken to Essentia Hospital in Fargo with non-life-threatening injuries.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Fargo Police Department, Fargo Fire Department, and Sanford Ambulance responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
