Moorhead, Clay County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Moorhead woman is facing a felony charge in Clay County after prosecutors said she asked a minor child to take mail from another parent’s home, according to a criminal complaint filed in Minnesota District Court.
The defendant is identified as Sheri Amalie Heard, 39, of Moorhead. Court records show she is charged with soliciting or conspiring with a minor to commit a crime. The alleged underlying act was felony mail theft.
What the Complaint Says
According to the complaint, the case began on or about February 26, 2026, at a home on 30th Street South in Moorhead. Prosecutors said the mail involved a letter tied to a bankruptcy filing. The complaint states the letter could affect child support payment obligations. Investigators were told that Heard sent the minor a photo of the letter and asked her to retrieve it and bring it to Heard.
The complaint also states that screenshots of those messages were given to law enforcement. Court records say the letter was addressed to D.C.H. The complaint further says he did not give Heard permission to take it.
