Narrative:
On July 1st, 2024, at approximately 6:33 am, Kelsie Schaack was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 westbound on I-94 when the vehicle left the road and struck the cable median barrier. After striking the barrier, the Dodge crossed the eastbound lanes of I-94 and entered the south ditch, coming to rest there.
Schaack was improperly wearing her seat belt, with the lap belt across her lap and the shoulder strap placed behind her seat. She was transported by Barnes County Ambulance to CHI Mercy Health in Valley City, where she was treated and released for her injuries.
The crash occurred at the end of the cable barrier section west of Valley City, allowing the vehicle to cross the median. The incident remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
