Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Thief River Falls man is facing a felony charge in Pennington County after prosecutors said he failed to update his predatory offender registration.
According to a criminal complaint, 47-year-old Joshua Mark Sorenson was charged with knowingly failing to fulfill a registration requirement. The charge is a felony under Minnesota Statute 243.166. It carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.
What the complaint says
Court records said Sorenson updated his primary address on December 2, 2025. The listed address was in Thief River Falls. Investigators later learned he had been removed from that home on December 24, 2025.
The complaint said Sorenson did not appear to update his registration after leaving that address. Authorities later found his vehicle at Seven Clans Casino. He was then taken into custody and brought to the Pennington County Law Enforcement Center.
At the law enforcement center, the complaint said Sorenson admitted he had not lived at the residence for about nine days. He also said he considered himself homeless.

Case filed in Pennington County
The case was filed in Pennington County District Court. The court file number listed in the complaint is 57-CR-26-86.
Prosecutors said Sorenson is required to register as a predatory offender in Minnesota. The complaint also referenced earlier cases in his criminal history. Those included a 2015 fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct case and a 2023 registration-related case.
A criminal complaint contains allegations. The charge has not been proven in court. Sorenson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
What happens next
The case will now move through the Minnesota court process. That may include an initial appearance, future hearings, and possible plea discussions or trial.
