Moorhead (trfnews.i234.me) — A Moorhead man now faces two felony charges after a reported early morning gunfire incident in Clay County, according to a criminal complaint.
Prosecutors charged Bryan Jacob Envik, 34, with reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality and intentional discharge of a firearm that endangered safety. Both charges stem from an incident reported around 3:24 a.m. on April 8, 2026.
911 Calls Reported Screaming and Gunshots
According to the complaint, dispatch received three separate 911 calls from the area of 1921 13th Ave. N. in Moorhead. Callers reported hearing screaming and several gunshots.
One caller said the screaming sounded like someone was being killed. Another caller reported seeing a man outside with a rifle near a neighboring home.
When officers arrived, they made contact with Envik and another resident identified in court records as A.G. The complaint says Envik admitted he fired the gun.
Investigators say Envik told officers he believed people were inside his home. He said he fired at them. A search of the home found no intruders, according to the complaint.

Damage Found Inside and Outside Homes
Authorities reported finding several bullet holes inside the house. Damage was seen in the living room and kitchen. The complaint also lists damage to a refrigerator, dishwasher, and front screen door.
Officers also recovered a SCAR .308 rifle, a pistol, several long guns, and a Glock 17 handgun, the complaint states.
A neighbor at 1910 13th Ave. N., identified as M.F. in the complaint, told officers a .308 shell casing was found on his deck. Investigators said that casing matched the rifle taken from Envik.
Another resident told police he saw Envik fire the rifle toward the home at 1921 13th Ave. N. The complaint says Envik also admitted firing in the direction of his own home.
Investigators later found evidence that at least one bullet struck the siding and gutter of a nearby home at 1910 13th Ave. N.
Court Case Filed in Clay County
The case was filed in Clay County District Court, part of Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District.
The charges were filed under Minnesota Statute 609.66, which covers certain dangerous weapons offenses.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are only allegations. Envik is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
