What The Complaint Alleges

The complaint says deputies were sent to a home on a 911 hang-up call around 8:30 a.m. When they arrived, they were told the suspect had left in a gray pickup.

Investigators then spoke with the alleged victim, identified in court papers as R.S. The complaint says she had scrapes on her fingers and blood on her knees.

According to the complaint, R.S. said she and Sehlstrom live together and have children together. She told investigators an argument started after she accused him of cheating and tried to look at his phone.

The complaint says Sehlstrom then slammed her head against plywood on a patio. It also says he choked her and took her phone while she tried to record the incident.

R.S. told investigators she tried to get the phone back. The complaint says she was then pinned to the ground outside. She was allegedly dragged by her neck and hair. She also said she could not breathe or scream.

Defendant Statement

Court records say Sehlstrom was later located and interviewed by law enforcement. According to the complaint, he denied assaulting R.S. He did admit there was a physical tussle between them.

The charges in the complaint are allegations only. Sehlstrom is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The case is now pending in Roseau County District Court.
