POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Warren, Minnesota man, Conner Douglas Anderson, 31, was sentenced on Tuesday, July 2, to 86 months in prison for committing a first-degree aggravated controlled substance crime in Polk County.
Anderson sold three ounces of methamphetamine to an undercover deputy in May 2023, according to a probable cause statement filed in the case. Officers observed Anderson collect the money and then tracked him as he traveled to obtain the methamphetamine. During one of the two controlled buys, Anderson crossed state lines, exiting Minnesota and entering North Dakota.
Upon returning to East Grand Forks to meet with the officer, Anderson was arrested. It was discovered that he had purchased the methamphetamine from Todd Jonas Hicks in Grand Forks.
Anderson pleaded guilty to the first-degree felony charge in February. The aggravated charge required at least two of the following aggravating factors: multiple sales or possession incidents in three or more counties, crossing state or international borders to transfer drugs into Minnesota, engaging in at least three separate drug transactions, or possessing or selling drugs in a park zone.
The crime carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 86 months, which Anderson received through a plea agreement. The maximum sentence for the charge is 40 years.
Additionally, Anderson pleaded guilty to misdemeanor fourth-degree driving while impaired by a Schedule I or II controlled substance. In exchange for his plea, five other felony charges were dismissed, including importing controlled substances across state borders, first-degree controlled substance sale, first-degree controlled substance possession, failure to affix a tax stamp, and first-degree sale of 17 grams or more of cocaine or methamphetamine within 90 days.
Anderson has been credited with 14 days served.
