Donald L. Fougner, age 76, resident of Aneta, ND, died Sunday, June 23, 2024 at the NCHS Hospital in McVille, ND.
Donald Lee Fougner was born October 23, 1947 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Milferd and Evelyn (Jacobson) Fougner. He was raised on the family farm near Aneta. After graduation in the fall, he attended NDSU in Fargo, ND and graduated in 1970. Donald married Nancy Moen on August 29, 1969. Following his college graduation, he came back to Aneta and farmed for the remainder of his life. He served as a Nelson County Commissioner for 24 years and also served various boards in the community; Aneta Booster Club, Township, Farmers Union Oil, Sundahl Lutheran Church, Sheyenne Valley Grain, Parkview Health Center, and M Power. Don had a love for farming. If it was in a tractor, combine, grain truck, and it involved farming, he was happy. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, and would attend as many games as he could.
Don will be deeply missed by his wife, Nancy Fougner of Aneta; 4 children, Dawnette Hendrickson of Devils Lake, ND, Darren (Dawn) Fougner of Aneta, Donovan (Christine) Fougner of Aneta, and Derrek Fougner of Aneta; 9 grandchildren, Whitney, Brandon, Dalton, Damien, Devyn, Dawson, Joey, Cristian, and Leah; 4 great grandchildren, Lilly, Moxon, Sawyer, and Calliope.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 granddaughters, Mercedes and Teja.
The Funeral Service for Donald will be held at Sundahl Lutheran Church of Aneta, ND, on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Silent Hill Cemetery, rural Aneta. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
