Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me) — A Thief River Falls woman was cited after police investigated a reported cell phone theft on March 23.
Investigation Leads To Vehicle Contact
According to the report, police went to 1204 Stephen St. at 3:53 p.m. The call involved a reported theft of a cell phone.
While at the address, an officer encountered a juvenile driver arriving with two other juveniles. One child was in a car seat.
During that contact, the officer allegedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Driver Points To Mother
The juvenile driver told police that marijuana was under a seat. She said it belonged to her mother, Alexie Kaye Burkholder.
Police then spoke with Burkholder by phone, according to the citation.
Citation Issued
Burkholder, 37, of Thief River Falls, was cited for cannabis open package as the owner or driver of a motor vehicle.
The citation stated the marijuana weighed about 17 grams.
The case remains a citation matter unless changed by the court.
