Red Lake County (trfnews.i234.me) Red Lake County deputies and other emergency crews handled a busy stretch of calls from March 13 through March 20. The week included a championship escort, ditch calls, a rollover crash, a missing vehicle report, and a missing dog.

Team Escort And Road Calls

On March 13, law enforcement and emergency crews escorted the Section 8A champion Red Lake County Rebels boys basketball team back into the county. The team returned after its win at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls. The escort moved through Red Lake Falls, Brooks, Plummer, and Oklee. Lights and sirens led the way. Supporters followed in a long line of vehicles.

On March 14, a deputy helped two vehicles stuck in the ditch on Highway 32 south of Red Lake Falls. No one was hurt. No vehicle damage was reported. Both vehicles had to be towed from the ditch.

On March 15, Kimberly Nicole Lara, 33, of Thief River Falls, was cited for speeding on Highway 59 south of Plummer.

Later that day, deputies responded to a one-vehicle rollover north of Plummer on Highway 59. The Plummer Fire Department, Oklee Ambulance, and the Minnesota State Patrol also responded. No injuries were reported. The vehicle had heavy damage. The State Patrol is handling the crash investigation.

Other Calls Across The County

On March 18, a Red Lake Falls resident reported a neighbor’s dog running loose. The caller said the dog often entered the yard. A deputy spoke with the owner about fixing the problem.

On March 19, a Red Lake Falls resident reported harassment. The incident was documented. The reporting party was advised.

Also on March 19, the sheriff’s office received a report of a missing vehicle. That case remains under investigation.

That same day, the Red Lake County Highway Department found a Chromebook on a roadway near Brooks. The device was turned over to the sheriff’s office. Anyone who believes it is theirs can contact the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

During the evening of March 19, sheriff’s office members and the North Star Special Response Team took part in training at Hughes Elementary School and Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls. Officers from Thief River Falls, Pennington County, and Marshall County also joined the training.

Later that night, a deputy responded to a disturbance at a Red Lake Falls home. The people involved were counseled. The situation was settled at the scene. One person was given a ride after they were no longer wanted at the home.

Shortly after midnight on March 20, an Oklee resident reported a missing brown lab. Anyone with information about the dog is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.

This report covers a week that mixed celebration with routine public safety work. It also showed the wide range of calls deputies handle across Red Lake County, from traffic cases to lost property and animal complaints.
