Clifford Emanuel Larson was born January 11, 1931 in Holt Township, Marshall County, MN. He was baptized at Ringbo Lutheran Church and raised on a farm in Ringbo Township, Marshall County, MN by his uncle, Bill and his wife, Hattie Larson. He attended Ringbo Country School through the eighth grade. In his teenage years and into his twenties, Clifford worked on the farm with Bill and Hattie where they raised small grains and cattle.
In 1958, at a dance in Highlanding, Clifford met the love of his life, Eleanor Sanders. They were married on August 29, 1959 in Greenbush, MN. They purchased a 40 acre farm near Holt where they raised their 5 children, Charyl, Valorie, Terry, Larry and David. In 1965 the original farm home burned, and Clifford built their new home in 1966. Clifford continued to live on the farm after Eleanor passed away in 2017.
Clifford loved his life on the farm. In the early years, he raised small grains, dairy cattle, beef cattle, sheep, chickens, pigs and horses. He transitioned to grain farming where at one time he farmed about 1000 acres. Clifford was very proud of his accomplishments!
In addition to his work on the farm, he worked for Witcher Construction for several years. The Huck, Northland Community College, Franklin Middle School, Post Office and the hospital were projects in Thief River Falls that Clifford worked on. He also worked on the pipeline in the early 1970’s. After putting his land into CRP, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Lunke Construction and drove beet trucks.
In 1980, Clifford and Eleanor purchased property at Waskish where they enjoyed spending time at their cabin and fishing. He loved dancing with Eleanor! He enjoyed tinkering on his old tractors, deer hunting, and visiting with his family, friends and neighbors. He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt and the Eagle’s Club in Thief River Falls.
He is survived by his children Charyl (Alex) De Alva of Glendale, AZ, Valorie Larson of Glendale, AZ, Larry (Tammy) Larson of Roseau, MN and David (Brenda) Larson of Newfolden, MN; grandchildren Tyler De Alva, Alec De Alva, Brady De Alva, Kalen Yelvington, Kole Yelvington, Trevor Veselka, Mychal Larson, Michelle (Tuan) Bui, Natalie Larson, Rachel Larson and Jessica Larson; great-grandchildren, Jules, Rhodes and Daniel; and many other relatives and friends.
