Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Red Lake man faces a gross misdemeanor DWI charge. The case follows a driving complaint in Tenstrike. The details come from a court filing.
Justin Gerald Aughinash Jr., 32, is charged with second-degree DWI. The charge stems from Feb. 22, 2026. The filing says testing showed an alcohol level above the legal limit.
What the complaint says
According to the criminal complaint, a caller reported a possible impaired driver on Highway 71. The vehicle was described as a white Honda Pilot. A deputy responded and briefly spotted a similar vehicle. The deputy then lost it in traffic.
A short time later, the deputy was sent to Lake’s Market liquor store in Tenstrike, the complaint says. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Aughinash. The deputy reported a strong odor of alcohol. The deputy also reported watery, glassy eyes.
The complaint says Aughinash was asked to step out for field sobriety tests. The deputy reported trouble following directions. The deputy also reported signs of impaired eye movement. The deputy also reported swaying. The deputy also reported a hostile attitude.
Test results and license status
A preliminary breath test showed 0.17, according to the complaint. Aughinash was arrested and taken to the Beltrami County Jail.
At the jail, Aughinash was read the Minnesota Breath Test Advisory, the complaint says. He agreed to give breath samples. Those tests registered 0.23, according to the complaint.
Investigators also learned Aughinash’s driving privileges were revoked, the complaint says. The complaint also says he had an active warrant. The warrant was tied to a failure to appear. It was for an earlier DWI case.
Court records listed in the complaint also show an implied consent revocation. That revocation date was July 5, 2025. The posting date was Aug. 18, 2025, the complaint says.
