Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me) – Police responded to a rear-end crash at the roundabout on Pennington Avenue and Greenwood Street on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident was reported at 3:13 p.m. on October 30. According to the police report, a 2022 Dodge Durango was traveling north on Pennington Avenue when it struck the back of a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 that had stopped for traffic at the roundabout.
The Durango was driven by Heidi Sorenson of Thief River Falls. The Ram 1500 was driven by Michelle Erickson, also of Thief River Falls. Erickson had stopped as traffic backed up at the roundabout when Sorenson’s vehicle hit the rear of her pickup.
Police reported no known injuries from the crash. Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.
Rear-end crashes are among the most common types of collisions at roundabouts as drivers adjust to slowing traffic and changing entry points. Transportation officials continue to stress the importance of slowing down and maintaining space between vehicles when approaching roundabouts.
Information on safe roundabout use is available from the Minnesota Department of Transportation at dot.state.mn.us.

Roundabouts just suck. Put a stop sign or light in. I have seen so many confused at a roundabout. I know they are meant to increase the flow. Get real we don’t need them nor do we like them.
