Thief River Falls, Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) — A new court bulletin lists several local cases. It includes a stayed felony drug file tied to a DWI sentence.

The cases come from the latest Pennington County Citation Disposition Bulletin. TRF News pays for copies of this public record. If you see this report posted elsewhere, it was copied from TRF News.

DWI and stayed felony drug case

Paul Eugene Peterson, 35, of Thief River Falls, was sentenced for fourth-degree driving while impaired. Court records list a $485 fine. The court imposed 90 days in jail. The jail time was stayed for one year. Peterson received credit for time served.

The court also ordered supervised probation for one year. Records say Peterson must follow the same rules tied to a related drug case.

In that drug file, the court stayed adjudication on a felony fifth-degree controlled substance possession charge. The case was continued. The court set supervised probation for three years.

Records say Peterson must attend a MADD Impact Panel. He must complete a full assessment within 60 days. He must finish any treatment and aftercare that is ordered.

The court barred mood-altering chemicals, including marijuana. The order also bans firearms, ammo, and explosives. Records also list a $500 payment to a local K-9 fund.

A stayed adjudication can keep a conviction off the record. That can happen if all court terms are met. If terms are broken, the court can enter a conviction.
