FARGO, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A homeless man is in custody following an attempted bank robbery in downtown Fargo on Monday afternoon.

According to Fargo Police Captain Christensen, officers were dispatched at 2:23 p.m. to the Wells Fargo branch in the 400 block of Main Avenue after a report of a man claiming to rob the bank and demanding $50,000.

Police arrived within minutes and detained the suspect without incident. The man, identified as 36-year-old Kashif Grant, who is listed as homeless, reportedly told a bank employee he was robbing the bank but made no threats and did not display any weapon.

Investigators say Grant was unarmed, and no one inside the bank was injured or in danger. Officers initially responded as if to a robbery in progress but quickly determined there was no active threat to the business or the public.

Grant was arrested for attempted felony theft. The Cass County Attorney’s Office will review the case to determine appropriate formal charges.

Authorities emphasize there is no evidence suggesting Grant attempted to harm or threaten anyone during the incident.
