FARGO ( trfnews.i234.me ) — A Fargo man is facing a felony domestic violence charge after allegedly choking a woman during an argument.

According to court documents, Neifboy Metzger of Fargo is charged with felony domestic violence. Police responded after a report of an assault at a Fargo residence.

The responding officer wrote in the incident report, “When he arrived on scene, he spoke to the female victim who said she and Metzger were in an off-again, on-again relationship.” The report states Metzger had been staying overnight at the woman’s home.

The victim told police Metzger had been drinking and became angry when she asked him to leave. She also asked him to replace her broken phone, which allegedly escalated the argument. According to police, Metzger then grabbed the woman by the neck and choked her.

Metzger told officers the woman had slapped him on the back of his head, but officers arrested him following the interview. He now faces a felony charge of domestic violence in Cass County.

Domestic violence is a serious crime in North Dakota, often resulting in felony charges when strangulation or choking is involved. More information on state domestic violence laws can be found on the North Dakota Attorney General’s Office website.
