FARGO, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fargo man has been arrested and charged after allegedly assaulting a maintenance worker who refused to let him into a downtown apartment building.
According to court documents, William D. Pitts Jr. of Fargo faces felony interference with an emergency call and misdemeanor simple assault charges following the incident on October 25 at the Graver Apartments.
Police say the male victim, a maintenance manager, told Pitts he couldn’t enter the building without authorization. Pitts allegedly responded by striking the victim twice in the face and grabbing the victim’s phone as he tried to call for help.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing Pitts drop what appeared to be a crack pipe during the altercation. Officers located and arrested him a short time later near the building. The victim suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
Pitts was booked into the Cass County Jail and now faces both felony and misdemeanor charges. The case remains under investigation by the Fargo Police Department.
