Minot Man Dies After High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Rollover

WARD COUNTY, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me— A Minot man was killed Saturday night following a high-speed pursuit that ended in a rollover crash southwest of Minot, according to a North Dakota Highway Patrol news release.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on October 25 near the intersection of Ward County Road 14 and 62nd Street SW, roughly three miles southwest of Minot. Authorities say 21-year-old Brandon Burton was the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu that fled from officers after being involved in an alleged felony domestic violence incident.

According to investigators, the Minot Police Department was pursuing Burton’s vehicle when it continued westbound at a high rate of speed. Burton lost control after turning onto a gravel road. The car entered a ditch and rolled.

Burton was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot with serious injuries but was later pronounced deceased.

Responding agencies included the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Minot Police Department, Ward County Sheriff’s Office, Minot Rural Fire Department, and Trinity First Response. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
