Fargo Man Arrested After Overnight SWAT Standoff At Hotel
FARGO, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fargo man is in custody after a late-night standoff with SWAT teams that stretched into early Tuesday morning. According to Fargo Police, the incident began around 8:11 p.m. Monday when officers attempted to locate a wanted suspect at a hotel in the 1700 block of 44th Street South.
Authorities confirmed that 31-year-old Trevor Nelson of Fargo was inside the hotel. Nelson had an outstanding felony warrant for escape out of Cass County. Officers established a perimeter and evacuated the hotel after Nelson refused to come out of his room.
Police obtained a search warrant, and the Red River Valley SWAT Team was activated to assist. Additional backup came from the Grand Forks Regional SWAT Team, West Fargo Police, Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Despite repeated commands to surrender, Nelson refused to exit the room. Officers deployed a chemical irritant in an effort to end the standoff. At 2:27 a.m. Tuesday, after several hours of negotiation and tactical response, Nelson was taken into custody without further incident.
Nelson was transported to a local healthcare facility for medical clearance before being booked into the Cass County Jail. Police say additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
Authorities thanked the public and hotel staff for their cooperation during the tense situation. The Fargo Police Department emphasized the teamwork between multiple agencies that helped resolve the standoff safely.
