Grand Forks (trfnews.i234.me) — Grand Forks police are investigating a reported assault with an edged weapon. Police shared the update at 4:35 p.m. Sunday.
Police said the report began at 12:01 a.m. Sunday. A man arrived at Altru Hospital in a private vehicle. Police said he had severe cuts to his head and arm.
The man told officers he was attacked by a random male. He said it happened in a residential area south of the hospital. Police said the driver who dropped him off was a passerby. That person has not been identified.
Officers checked several locations that the man gave. Police said they found no scene and no evidence. They also found nothing tied to the report. Police said they have not been able to confirm his story.
Police also said it is not clear where the assault happened. It may have happened outside Grand Forks. Investigators are still working to narrow the location.
The man was treated for his injuries. Police said he was later released. His name has not been released.
