Fargo Man Charged After Firing Gun Through Apartment Floor
FARGO, N.D. ( trfnews.i234.me ) — A Fargo man is facing a felony reckless endangerment charge after allegedly firing a handgun inside his apartment, sending a bullet through the floor and into a neighboring unit below.
According to police, Jeremiah Williams told officers the gun discharged accidentally on Monday afternoon. The round went through the floor of his apartment, breaking a window in the apartment below. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Responding officers said they were forced to break down the door to Williams’ unit before taking him into custody. Inside, investigators seized two handguns, ammunition, and one spent 9mm casing as evidence.
Williams allegedly told police he did not realize the bullet had passed through the floor and into the unit below. He reportedly said he “hoped all was well and that it would go away.”
Authorities say the case highlights the dangers of negligent firearm handling in multi-unit housing. Fargo Police remind residents to always unload and secure firearms properly and to follow all safety guidelines when cleaning or handling weapons.
Williams was booked into the Cass County Jail and is awaiting his initial court appearance. The investigation remains active.
