WEST FARGO, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — A West Fargo woman is facing serious felony charges following an alleged sexual assault at a detox facility in Moorhead, Minnesota.
According to court documents, 33-year-old Brittanny Rose Heinonen has been charged with two felony counts — third-degree and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. The incident reportedly occurred on August 20th at a Moorhead detox facility.
The male victim told investigators he had been brought to the detox center and had fallen asleep on his side. He said he later awoke to the feeling of someone pulling on his genitals. The victim then realized a woman, later identified as Heinonen, was lying beside him with her back turned toward him.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim said he partially penetrated Heinonen before realizing what was happening. He stated that he then said, “What the—” and pushed her away. The victim told officers he did not know the woman. Heinonen allegedly stood up, dressed, and left the room shortly after the incident.
The male victim later underwent a sexual assault examination. Investigators say evidence was collected as part of the ongoing investigation. Heinonen has since been charged and is awaiting further court proceedings in Clay County District Court.
If convicted, Heinonen could face significant prison time under Minnesota’s criminal sexual conduct statutes. Both third- and fourth-degree offenses are considered felonies in the state.
