GRAND RAPIDS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A Grand Rapids man faces serious charges after allegedly attacking two good samaritans who tried to help him.

According to court records, the incident occurred around 4:36 p.m. on October 5, 2022, in the 500 block of 20th Avenue Northwest in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Witnesses told police that a man, later identified as Seth G. Howe, was lying in the road holding an empty vodka bottle. Concerned for his safety, one of the good samaritans stopped and told him to move out of the roadway to avoid being hit.

Authorities say Howe then became aggressive. He allegedly began shouting, struck the first witness, and threw the bottle, hitting the person in the shoulder. A second witness who had also stopped to help was reportedly assaulted as well.

Officers arrived and took Howe into custody. He was cleared at a local hospital and later booked into jail. Court documents show that Howe now faces two felony counts of assault for the alleged attacks.

Police remind the public to use caution when offering assistance to strangers and to contact emergency services if a person appears to be in distress or intoxicated in public areas.

Howe’s case remains under review in Itasca County District Court.
