Cass County: Fargo Woman Charged With Vehicle Entry

CASS COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fargo woman is facing a felony charge after allegedly entering vehicles and walking in traffic on the city’s north side.

According to a police report, officers were called around 11:46 a.m. on October 4 to the area of 27th Street North and 41st Avenue North in Fargo. The report stated that a woman had been seen walking into traffic and attempting to enter vehicles.

When the officers arrived, they located a woman matching the provided description. She was identified as Nicole M. Lenertz of Fargo, North Dakota. When questioned, Lenertz denied entering vehicles and said she was walking to a gas station to buy leggings, claiming those were the only clothes she had left.

Officers noted that Lenertz appeared aware of her surroundings and was not disoriented. When asked for identification, she refused to provide her name and questioned why she was being detained. Officers informed her that a report had been made about her entering a vehicle and possibly taking an item she was seen holding.

After refusing to cooperate and attempting to walk away, Lenertz was detained and placed in a squad car. A witness later told police they saw her earlier that morning near County Road 20, checking door handles of vehicles and shops in the area.

Lenertz was arrested and has been charged with felony unlawful entry into a vehicle. She remains in custody pending further court proceedings in Cass County District Court.

Authorities remind residents to lock their vehicles and report any suspicious behavior immediately. Vehicle entry incidents have been on the rise in the Fargo area in recent months.
