Dodge County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A Rose Creek man has been arrested after posting a video outside Byron High School that contained threats toward law enforcement and judicial officials.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, 55-year-old Daniel Lewison posted the video to Facebook on Thursday morning around 8:34 a.m. In the recording, filmed in front of Byron High School’s bear statue, Lewison made threats against judges, attorneys, counties, and law enforcement. Officials said many of those targeted had prior contact with him due to his criminal history.

While the threats were not directed at schools, authorities placed Byron, Kasson-Mantorville, Triton, and Hayfield schools under precautionary lockdowns. Byron High School went into a soft lockdown at 9:20 a.m. Students in Blooming Prairie were kept indoors for recess, though no lockdown was ordered. Stewartville schools were not affected.

Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson said deputies initially believed the video was livestreamed, raising concern that Lewison could have been near other schools. Investigators later determined the video had been filmed on Tuesday at Byron High School.

Parents expressed concern about how they learned of the lockdowns, with some saying information spread faster on social media than through official channels.

Law enforcement spent several hours searching for Lewison. He was eventually located in Chickasaw County, Iowa. Although probation officials initially denied a request to detain him for probation violations, Lewison was later taken into custody at 6:03 p.m. with assistance from West Concord Police.

Authorities are reviewing potential charges, which could range from disorderly conduct to terroristic threats. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office said it would forward charges to the Olmsted County Attorney’s Office for review.
