The charges stem from a November 2, 2024, shooting at Dady’s residence on Dakota Street Northwest. Authorities say deputies were called around 4:53 p.m. after reports that Dady shot his brother in the abdomen. The victim underwent emergency surgery and was later stabilized.
Investigators determined the brothers had been arguing when Dady, who was intoxicated, retrieved a Ruger .357 handgun and fired. Court records show he accused his brother of having an affair with his wife and claimed he felt threatened when confronted. Witnesses reported hearing the argument followed by a gunshot, but did not see the shooting.
Detectives recovered the firearm, a casing, and a bullet at the scene. In a post-Miranda interview, Dady admitted to pulling the trigger but said he only intended to scare his brother. After the incident, he unloaded the gun, went outside, and waited for deputies to arrive.
First-degree assault carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for December, though prosecutors have not yet said what sentence they will seek.
