Pennington County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A rural Pennington County crash sent a vehicle into a field early Tuesday, August 27, but no injuries were reported.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called at 12:43 a.m. to the intersection of 140th Avenue Southwest and Center Street West. A 2023 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by Rodrigo Arriagada of Thief River Falls, was traveling north on 140th Avenue Southwest when the crash occurred.
The report states Arriagada failed to stop at a posted stop sign at the T intersection with Center Street West. The Pathfinder crossed the roadway, entered the ditch on the north side of Center Street West, and came to rest in an adjacent field.
No injuries were reported at the scene. Deputies noted damage to the vehicle, but there were no reports of property damage beyond the field. Emergency medical services were not required. Authorities did not indicate whether citations were issued.
Traffic was minimal at the time due to the early morning hour, and no other vehicles were involved in the incident. The sheriff’s office is continuing to review the case.
Rural intersections can pose increased risks, especially at night when visibility is limited. Minnesota traffic safety officials note that failing to stop at intersections is a leading cause of crashes statewide. Drivers are urged to approach rural stop signs with caution and remain alert to avoid accidents. More information about traffic safety can be found through the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety.
No further information was immediately available, but the case remains under review by the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.
