Polk County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A Fargo woman is facing multiple felony charges in a strange case unfolding in Polk County, Minnesota. Court documents show the case began in January 2025 after a series of unusual phone calls.
Authorities say the woman, identified as Fannie Jo Howard-Johnson, reported she was being raped at the home of a police officer. Deputies determined no crime was taking place. The officer later received several other disturbing calls from the same woman.
Investigators say the incidents did not stop. Strange calls and text messages continued into this year. In one case, the woman reported a fire that did not exist. Authorities confirmed the reports were false.
Howard-Johnson now faces three felony charges. These include stalking and two counts of placing a fictitious emergency call intended to draw law enforcement to a peace officer’s home. Prosecutors allege the repeated calls and messages placed officers and the community at risk.
This case highlights the dangers of false reports, which can divert resources away from real emergencies. Minnesota law treats hoax emergency calls as serious crimes.
