BELTRAMI COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) – A Solway man is facing multiple felony charges after an alleged violent assault in Bemidji. Court documents identify the suspect as Brian Curtis Winge.

According to investigators, the incident happened on July 30. Winge allegedly forced his way inside a Bemidji apartment despite being told he was not welcome. The victim stated that he assaulted her repeatedly throughout the night and strangled her multiple times.

Prosecutors have charged Winge with several felonies, including burglary, assault on a person in a building, and domestic assault by strangulation. He also faces gross misdemeanor counts of domestic assault and domestic abuse no-contact order violation.

The victim’s injuries and statement formed the basis for the charges. Authorities say evidence indicates a prolonged attack inside the residence. No further details about the victim’s medical treatment were released.

Cases of domestic assault by strangulation are taken very seriously under Minnesota law. Convictions can result in years in prison, fines, and long-term restrictions. Prosecutors note that the burglary charge adds significant weight to the case.

The case will proceed in Beltrami County District Court. A first court appearance and potential bail details are expected soon.

Authorities urge anyone experiencing domestic violence to seek help immediately. Support resources are available through the National Domestic Violence Hotline and local Minnesota advocacy centers.

TRF News will provide updates as this case develops in the court system.
