Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fargo man is facing serious charges after authorities say he attempted an armed robbery and threatened an officer with a knife in Walker.
According to Cass County District Court records, 31-year-old Dillon Ray Kloehn has been charged with five counts, including first-degree assault on a peace officer, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, attempted first-degree aggravated robbery, and fleeing law enforcement. The most serious charge carries a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted.
The incident happened on August 8, 2025. Law enforcement received a call of a man walking around Walker wearing only boxers and possibly carrying a knife. Shortly before 7:00 p.m., authorities say Kloehn entered the Dollar General in Walker armed with a knife. Surveillance video later showed him approaching the counter and demanding cigarettes from the cashier while brandishing the weapon. Witnesses reported the cashier raised her hands in fear as Kloehn attempted to reach over the counter.
Officers quickly arrived on the scene. According to court documents, Kloehn ignored repeated commands to drop the knife and instead threatened to stab the responding officer. Witnesses reported hearing Kloehn yell that he was going to kill the officer. At one point, he allegedly rushed toward the officer outside the store while still holding the knife. The officer fired one shot, striking Kloehn, who fell but then got up and fled before being apprehended nearby.
Investigators recovered the knife, described as having a wooden multi-colored handle and measuring about eight inches in length. Witnesses and video corroborated that Kloehn had threatened both store employees and the officer with the weapon. Prosecutors have charged him with multiple felonies, including assault with deadly force against a peace officer, attempted aggravated robbery, and two counts of second-degree assault.
Kloehn remains in custody at the Cass County Jail pending further court proceedings.
