FARGO, North Dakota (trfnews.i234.me) – A Fargo man is facing multiple felony charges after a confrontation with police during a bicycle stop.

According to court documents, Abdishakur Ahmed was stopped just after 9:00 p.m. on August 8 in the 1700 block of 1st Avenue South for riding a bicycle without a light.

Authorities say Ahmed began struggling with the officer during the stop. The struggle moved to the ground, where Ahmed allegedly grabbed the officer by the throat.

A second officer arrived and helped take Ahmed into custody. While in the squad car, Ahmed reportedly threatened the officer, saying that once he was released, he was “going to get you.”

Police later confirmed that Ahmed already had an outstanding warrant at the time of the incident. He is now facing two felony charges:

  • Simple assault of a peace officer

  • Preventing arrest

Ahmed remains in custody pending his next court appearance.

Officials remind the public that officers often face heightened risks during routine traffic or bicycle stops, especially when suspects resist arrest.
