Thief River Falls, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — Michael “Mike” Lindholm, a longtime Thief River Falls welder and business owner, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026. Family members said he died in his hometown. They said he was surrounded by loved ones.
Life and work
Lindholm was born Nov. 29, 1966, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He moved to Thief River Falls in 1969. He attended Northrup Elementary, Franklin Middle School, and Lincoln High School. He graduated with the class of 1985.
Early on, Lindholm worked on the family farm. Relatives said that work helped shape his strong work ethic. After high school, he spent about two years in California. He later returned to Thief River Falls.
Lindholm married Karen Evenson. They raised two sons, Briar Lindholm and Blair Lindholm. He built a career in welding and fabrication. In 1998, he started Lindholm Welding. Friends said he was known for practical skills and steady work.
Family members said he enjoyed time at Lake of the Woods. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes. He also played guitar and liked cooking. Relatives described him as hands-on and creative.

Family
His family includes two grandsons, Colter Lindholm and Jack Lindholm. Briar Lindholm has taken over Lindholm Welding. Blair Lindholm lives in Fargo, North Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean Lindholm and Lucille Lindholm. He was also preceded by brothers Mark Lindholm, David Lindholm, and John Lindholm. He was also preceded by brother-in-law John Hanson.
Survivors include:
- Sons: Briar (Cassidy) Lindholm of Thief River Falls, and Blair (Kristina) Lindholm of Fargo
- Grandsons: Colter Lindholm and Jack Lindholm
- Sisters: Kim Hanson of Owatonna, and Cheryl (Nick) Danculovich of Hibbing
- Brother: Allan (Kathy) Lindholm of Oregon
- Nieces, aunts, cousins, and extended family
Service details
A Celebration of Life is set for Saturday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m. Visitation starts one hour earlier. A lunch and fellowship time will follow.
The posted notice lists Jan. 24, 2025. The death date is listed as Jan. 20, 2026.
