CASS COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — Two people are dead following an early morning house fire in Outing, Minnesota.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the fire was reported at 2:43 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, on Shady Lane Northeast. Responders arrived to find a home fully engulfed in flames.

Fire crews worked to put out the blaze, but during suppression efforts, the remains of two victims were found inside the residence.

Authorities say autopsies will be conducted by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm identities and determine causes of death. The victims’ names have not yet been released.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Crooked Lake Fire Department, the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to investigate the cause of the fire.

House fires can be deadly within minutes. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal urges residents to check smoke alarms regularly and have an escape plan.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
