Belcourt, ND & Mayville, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Thunderstorms rolled through the Red River Valley early Friday morning, bringing strong winds, heavy lightning, and a possible tornado sighting.

In Belcourt, near the Canadian border in the Turtle Mountains, a TRF News viewer submitted video around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night showing intense lightning and wind, accompanied by rainfall.

Further south, another viewer submitted striking footage from the Mayville Airport camera around 4:50 a.m., which appeared to show a tornado on the ground. As of now, no damage reports have been confirmed in that area.

Radar images from the National Weather Service, captured between 5:00 and 5:17 a.m., show the storm system moving eastward across the Red River Valley.

TRF News is currently contacting local authorities and emergency services to determine if any damage occurred overnight.

I’m Chris Harper reporting for TRF News.
