Marshall County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A felony criminal sexual conduct case against a Middle River man has been continued without adjudication in Marshall County District Court. If the defendant completes probation, the felony charge will be dismissed.

Adam William Steinhauer, 39, was placed on supervised probation for 30 years on July 29. Court documents show Steinhauer must follow strict conditions, including no contact with the victim unless authorized by his supervising agent or treatment team, completion of treatment recommendations from a psychosexual evaluation, and no unsupervised contact with minors or vulnerable adults without prior approval.

Steinhauer is also prohibited from possessing firearms, ammunition, or sexually explicit material and is barred from entering parks, playgrounds, or school property without permission. He must provide a DNA sample and pay $285 in fees and fines. Restitution is reserved, allowing 30 days for the defense to object.

The charge stems from a July 23, 2024 report made to Pennington County Social Services. According to the complaint, a girl alleged Steinhauer sexually abused her from ages 11 to 13. The abuse reportedly began with inappropriate touching and continued multiple times per week. The victim stated Steinhauer, often intoxicated, told her to keep the incidents secret and expressed affection toward her during the abuse.

The allegations surfaced after the girl’s father discovered text messages describing the abuse. Friends and family later corroborated her disclosures to authorities.
