Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) – An East Grand Forks woman is facing a felony threats of violence charge after police say she threatened to burn down her neighbor’s house during an argument.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the Ninth Judicial District Court, the incident occurred on July 17, 2025, when the victim reported the threat to East Grand Forks police.
The victim told officers she became frightened after Marla Lynn Kaste, 50, allegedly yelled at her son for bringing a kitten to a neighbor’s house, then argued with the victim and threatened to “burn their house down with them in it at night.” R.P. told officers she was afraid to sleep in her home after the confrontation.
A second witness corroborated the threat, telling officers that Kaste made the statement during the argument. Police later confronted Kaste at her residence, where they say she yelled at officers to leave her driveway and was uncooperative during her arrest.
Kaste is charged with felony threats of violence, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine under Minnesota law. The case is filed under 60-CR-25-1144 in Polk County District Court.
