Polk County (trfnews.i234.me) – An East Grand Forks man is facing a felony threat of violence charge after police say he sent multiple Instagram messages threatening to kill another man during an ongoing dispute.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the Ninth Judicial District Court, the incident occurred on July 11, 2025, when the victim, identified as N.C., went to the East Grand Forks Police Department to report the threats. Officers said N.C. was visibly upset and showed them screenshots of messages from an account believed to be Stephen Tyler Everding, 23.

The messages allegedly included death threats and references to the victim’s residence and vehicles, stating:

  • “Imma kill you bud. Imma put 2 in the back of ur f***ing skull.”

  • “Either leave… or imma find you and put a nice round in ur heart.”

  • “Just know I got the greenlight for ur ass.”

Police later located Everding at his home on James Avenue SE. He allegedly admitted to sending the messages, telling officers he was angry after receiving a photo of the victim with his ex-girlfriend.

Everding was arrested and charged with felony threats of violence, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine under Minnesota law. The case is filed under 60-CR-25-1109 in Polk County District Court.
