Clay County, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) – A Hawley man is facing two gross misdemeanor DWI charges after allegedly driving drunk from a bar and being found by law enforcement at his residence still in his vehicle.

According to court documents, on June 28, 2025, authorities were alerted to a possible intoxicated driver involved in a minor collision in the parking lot of the Roadhouse Bar in Lake Park, Minnesota. The vehicle involved was registered to Larry Herbert Ose Jr. (DOB: 03/31/1959).

Clay County deputies and a Minnesota State Trooper responded to Ose’s home in Hawley. When Sgt. Jorgenson arrived, he found the suspect’s vehicle parked inside the garage with Ose still in the driver’s seat. Ose exited the vehicle and was contacted by Deputy Fildes.

Ose reportedly admitted to drinking at the bar and driving himself home. Deputies observed that he had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, an unsteady gait, and a strong odor of alcohol.

Trooper Anthony Zajac administered a Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, which revealed six signs of impairment. A preliminary breath test measured Ose’s blood alcohol concentration at .177, more than twice the legal limit. A later official test at the Clay County Jail measured his BAC at .15.

Ose also has a prior DWI conviction from January 29, 2025, which counts as an aggravating factor under Minnesota law.

He now faces the following charges:

  • Count I: 3rd Degree DWI – Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol

  • Count II: 3rd Degree DWI – Alcohol Concentration 0.08 or More Within Two Hours

Both charges are gross misdemeanors, each carrying a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and/or a $3,000 fine.
