Courtenay (trfnews.i234.me) – A weekend storm in rural Stutsman County, North Dakota, has claimed the life of a 76-year-old man, who relied on a medical breathing device that failed during a power outage.
Jessica Moer, Stutsman County’s Emergency Manager, confirmed the incident occurred in the town of Courtenay, northeast of Jamestown. She stated that the storm-induced outage disabled the man’s life-support equipment, leading to his death.
The victim’s name has not been released at this time. The case highlights the dangers of storm-related outages, particularly for those dependent on critical medical equipment.
Emergency officials are urging vulnerable residents to have backup power plans in place during severe weather.
