Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) — A disturbing sex crimes trial is underway this week in Bemidji, where Colin James Rushman of Deer River is facing multiple felony charges involving a child under the age of 14.
According to court documents, Rushman is charged with:
-
Three felony counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a minor under 14, and
-
One felony count of violating a no-contact order, which the victim’s mother reportedly issued.
The alleged incidents occurred between March 1 and July 4, 2024, during which Rushman is accused of inappropriately touching the child.
Each count of criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum sentence of 25 years, meaning Rushman could face up to 75 years in prison, not including the additional penalty for violating the court order.
The trial continues this week in the Beltrami County District Court.
