Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Cass Lake man with a criminal history and a license canceled as inimical to public safety (IPS) is now facing new felony and gross misdemeanor charges, including DWI test refusal, after an apparent overdose led to the use of Narcan by deputies.
According to the complaint, on April 2, 2025, deputies spotted John David Iverson, 45, driving a red Ford F350. Iverson admitted his license was canceled and showed signs of drug impairment. A hypodermic needle was found in his pocket, and two more were discovered in the vehicle—one containing a brownish/red liquid.
While being transported, Iverson began vomiting and showed signs of overdose: sweating profusely, shaking, unable to stand. He was administered Narcan and taken to the hospital. There, he refused to submit to a blood or urine test, despite a court-authorized search warrant.
Iverson has three prior DWI-related license revocations (2022) and two DWI convictions in 2023 and 2024. His record also includes eight burglary convictions and a 1st-degree arson conviction from 2016.
