Kellier, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — In a bizarre and alarming case out of Beltrami County, Charles Esley Hale of Kellier is now facing serious criminal charges after allegedly stealing a pickup truck and driving it more than 200 miles across Minnesota.

According to a statement of probable cause dated June 2nd, a vehicle was reported stolen from the parking lot of Big Dick Sporting Goods in Kellier. The truck owner told authorities she left the keys in the cab but had not given anyone permission to use it.

Patrol officers later found the vehicle near Turtle River. Behind the wheel? Charles Esley Hale. He told deputies he had taken the truck to travel from Kellier to his mother’s house in Virginia, Minnesota, claiming he needed new housing.

Adding to the charges, Hale’s driving status was canceled at the time. He now faces felony theft, indifferent to the owner’s rights, and gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation.
