CROW WING COUNTY, MINNESOTA (trfnews.i234.me) — On Friday, May 9, 2025, at approximately 2:52 p.m., the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office responded to a structure fire in the 42,000 block of Mini Lake Road in Emily Township. Upon arrival, deputies found a school bus engulfed in flames. Firefighters from the Emily Fire Department, Cross Lake Fire Department, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Forestry Division worked to extinguish the blaze.

During the initial investigation, a deceased individual was discovered inside the bus. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The cause of the fire and the circumstances leading to the individual’s death are currently under investigation by the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Assisting agencies included the Emily Fire Department, the Cross Lake Fire Department, DNR Forestry, Emily First Responders, Crosby Ambulance, and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office.
