BECKER COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — Raymond Grantland Carlson, 38, of Detroit Lakes, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony third-degree burglary following an incident at Ikalka Arts in Washington Square Mall.
According to court records, on April 7, 2024, Carlson entered the art store and stole items including a speaker, headphones, photography lights, and a suitcase, totaling approximately $1,160 in value. Surveillance footage provided by the store owner led to Carlson’s identification. He was arrested on April 12 and admitted to the burglary.
On April 16, Judge Michelle Lawson sentenced Carlson to 28 months in prison at St. Cloud, stayed for five years, citing his amenability to chemical dependency treatment as a factor for the downward departure from sentencing guidelines. He was also ordered to serve 30 days in the Becker County Jail, with credit for time served, and placed on supervised probation for five years. Conditions include participation in chemical dependency programming, compliance with aftercare recommendations, and engagement in cognitive behavioral interventions as directed by probation. Carlson was fined $1,000 plus $160 in court fees.
