Clearwater County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — We now have a clearer picture of the chaotic events that unfolded Sunday afternoon near Roy Lake.
According to Sheriff Josh Gunther and an email response from Clearwater County’s Darren Halverson, multiple incidents happened almost simultaneously:

Officers were dispatched to Roy Lake after reports of multiple gunshots. Authorities have confirmed these sounds were linked to individuals engaged in target practice at some pits near the lake.

During this response, one man was arrested, but it was for an outstanding warrant unrelated to the gunfire.

Meanwhile, in Mahnomen, at almost the same time, another shooting incident occurred. A juvenile along a railroad track fired several rounds into the air. Authorities determined there was no malicious intent, and no arrests were made in that incident.

Finally, Sheriff Halverson confirmed that a man suffered a non-life-threatening injury after being hit by a ricochet bullet while target practicing somewhere in Clearwater County.
Authorities emphasize that while the incidents were alarming due to their simultaneous nature, they were unrelated. The target practice was legal, and there was no ongoing threat to the public.
