Hennepin County (trfnews.i234.me)—A tragic fatal crash occurred on April 5, 2025, at 20:44 on Eastbound Interstate 494 near 34th Avenue in Fort Snelling, Hennepin County. A 66-year-old female pedestrian, Cynthia Finnell, of Bloomington, MN, ran across the eastbound lanes of the interstate and came into contact with a 2013 Ford Explorer traveling in the right lane. The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries.

The driver of the Ford Explorer, Brandon Kenneth Urban, 49, of Lakeville, MN, was uninjured and remained at the scene. He was wearing his seat belt, and alcohol was not involved in the crash. The airbags in the Ford Explorer did not deploy, as the vehicle was not impacted in a way that would trigger them.

The crash occurred under dry road conditions, and emergency responders, including Bloomington Police and Airport Police, were promptly on the scene. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, Finnell was pronounced dead at the scene.
