Avon Township, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — On Saturday, May 24, 2025, at approximately 9:58 AM, a single-vehicle rollover accident occurred on westbound Interstate 94 near milepost 155 in Avon Township, Stearns County. A 2019 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 74-year-old Joann Mary Dirkes of Avon, lost control and rolled into the ditch.
Dirkes was uninjured in the crash. Her passenger, 76-year-old Margaret Evens of Avon, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment.
The Minnesota State Patrol reports that both individuals were wearing seat belts, and the vehicle’s airbags deployed during the crash. Road conditions were dry at the time of the incident, and alcohol was not a factor. Emergency responders included the Avon Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance, and Stearns County authorities.
