Brimson, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me)The Camp House Fire in St. Louis County has rapidly expanded, consuming over 1,250 acres and destroying more than 40 structures, including homes and cabins. The wildfire, which ignited on Sunday, May 11, near Brimson, continues to burn uncontained, prompting widespread evacuations and road closures.

Evacuation orders remain in effect for areas bounded by Little Creek Road to the north, County Road 151 to the east, Camp House Road to the south, and Highway 44 to the west. Residents on the west side of Highway 44 from Indian Lake to Breda Lake have also been instructed to evacuate southward. An evacuation center has been established at the Fredenberg Township Community Center located at 5104 Fish Lake Road.

Highway 44 is closed to all traffic between Indian Creek Road and Brimson Road, north of Hugo’s Bar, due to active fire conditions and numerous hotspots.

Firefighters are employing full suppression tactics, utilizing air resources, heavy equipment, and ground crews to combat the blaze. The fire is burning through mixed forest vegetation, including areas heavily infested with spruce budworm, which has contributed to the fire’s rapid spread.

As of now, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
