this ojibwe man from cass lake minnesota his native name in print here was called john smith in english he is reportedly the longest living native american in history and he’s buried at cass lake some accounts put his date of birth at 1784 and dying in 1922. that may be a stretch of the truth over the years other accounts confirm he was at least 100 at the time of his death this account from the minnesota historical society puts his age at 125. quote most of the highly character pictures during this time were taken of john smith a well-known ojibwe from cass lake who was purported to have lived to the age of 125. pictured on over 30 different postcards issued between 1908 and 1965. he ranks as one of the most frequently photographed ojibwe in minnesota smith sold many of his postcards to travelers riding the trains between duluth and grand forks unquote a couple of the photos i found were signed by bemidji photographers i’m Neil Berg reporting for eye news dot tv

  1. I heard about this in a old Newspaper (1987) That was just even older newspaper articles(1901-1920) because they were celebrating the town's founding or something.(the newspaper was the blackduck american)
