🚨 Dramatic Arrest in Wahpeton After Armed Assault Sparks Shelter-in-Place Order

WAHPETON, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A shelter-in-place order was issued in Wahpeton Friday afternoon after police responded to an armed assault on 3rd St. N. Police Chief Matthew Anderson reported that 20-year-old Nathan Deemer had assaulted a family member and pointed a gun at them.

A perimeter was quickly established, allowing the family to safely exit the home. The Southern Valley Special Response Team was activated, and after a tense three-hour standoff, Deemer attempted to flee through the rear entrance. Officers deployed less-lethal sponge rounds, leading to Deemer’s surrender.

Deemer was taken to the Richland County Jail on outstanding warrants, including charges of terrorizing and domestic assault. The operation involved coordination with the Richland and Wilkin County Sheriff’s Departments, Breckenridge and North Dakota State College of Science Police, End of the Woods Task Force, and North Dakota Highway Patrol.
